We want our care leavers to move into careers and higher education or gain independence. We are reaching out for help to develop a strong and sustainable support network to achieve this.
We are looking for businesses and community organisations willing to offer financial discounts or opportunities to our care leavers. Example initiatives include;
- a mentorship scheme, made up from mentors within the local business community.
- sponsorship to fund Duke of Edinburgh places, kit and expedition costs for seven of our care leavers.
- help to build employability skills, boost their confidence and help them develop their own skill set.
- donations to be able to fund our young people to take part in voluntary activities or work experience.
This is a really exciting opportunity for local organisations. You could make a real difference to young people. Who through no fault of their own have become one of the most vulnerable groups in our society. As a community we all have a social responsibility to support these young people. This could be through your social inclusion employment policies. Or your Corporate Social Responsibility funding initiatives for the local community.
If you feel that you can support our young care leavers in any way please contact Joe Gilbert. We can discuss forming a partnership of support for our young people and naming you as a Care Leaver Business Champion.
