Get a Mooncup for £5 with RECAP
Following the success of a trial in Huntingdonshire, the reusable period products scheme is now available across Cambridgeshire. Funded by RECAP and in partnership with Mooncup, you can get a reusable period cup for just £5 (normally £23.50!).
What is a Mooncup?
Menstrual cups (Mooncups) are an alternative to traditional pads and tampons for collecting period blood. These reusable wonders are not only eco-friendly but can also be safely worn for up to 12 hours, depending on your flow. Unlike tampons, which absorb period blood, Mooncups collect it. Did you know?
Disposable menstrual products add 200,000 tonnes of waste to UK landfills every year. In 2019, Huntingdonshire alone sent 260 tonnes to landfill. To help reduce this, the Council is offering reusable menstrual cups, making it easier for residents to choose a more sustainable option.
With this initiative, we aim to help 1,300 women switch to reusable period products. This will prevent the disposal of approximately 264 single-use menstrual items per person each year, totalling around 343,200 items annually for all participants.
