Business owners or managers have a legal responsibility for disposing of waste produced by their company. Waste must be collected by a licensed waste carrier or it can be disposed of directly at a permitted waste site.
It is your responsibility to keep records of waste transfer notes for at least 2 years and ensure that anyone collecting your waste has a waste carrier license by checking the Environment Agency's public register or call 03708 506506. If you don't you could be prosecuted under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
You can also find useful information on the Right Waste Right Place website.
It is an offence to take business waste into any household recycling centre.
