Market town transport strategies

The County Council produced area specific transport strategies for all of the market towns in Cambridgeshire. Each market town strategy aims to provide a five year programme of transport improvements and support the Local Transport Plan objectives and contribute towards the prosperity and wellbeing of each town. They were written in partnership with the district councils.

These market town strategies are gradually being replaced with district wide transport strategies that cover both the market towns and rural areas in each of the five Cambridgeshire Districts.

The Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire Transport Strategy was adopted in March 2014.

The East Cambridgeshire Transport Strategy was adopted in December 2016.

Transport strategies for Huntingdonshire and Fenland are currently under development and, once approved, will replace the below market town strategies.
