September travel arrangements - 2026/27 academic year
The Passenger Transport Service is continuing to process transport applications received after the published deadline and arrange travel for the 2026/27 academic year.
If your application has been approved, details of your child's transport arrangements and provider will be shared with you as soon as they have been confirmed.
Applications submitted after 26 June 2026
If you submitted your application after 26 June 2026, there may be a delay in processing your application and transport may not be in place for the start of the academic year.
Attending school while applications are processed
Parents and carers remain responsible for ensuring their child attends school while applications are being assessed and transport arrangements are being finalised.
Mileage reimbursement in exceptional circumstances
Where exceptional circumstances prevented an application from being submitted by 26 June 2026, such as a late confirmation of school placement, you may be able to claim reimbursement for reasonable mileage costs incurred while making your own travel arrangements until approved transport provision is in place.
Eligibility for reimbursement will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If you believe exceptional circumstances apply, please let us know when we contact you to confirm your transport arrangements.
Available travel assistance
If your child is assessed as eligible for travel assistance, support may be provided through transport arranged by Cambridgeshire County Council or through a Personal Transport Budget (PTB) where requested. Child in care applications
If your child is, or has been, a child in care with Cambridgeshire or another local authority, please contact your social worker about transport.
This includes legal arrangements such as a Special Guardianship Order or if your child is or has been a Looked After Child.
Your social worker will be able to advise on the appropriate process.
